Overview
- AT&T fully rolled out its Wireless Account Lock on July 1 for postpaid, prepaid and business customers
- Primary and secondary account holders can enable or disable the feature at any time under Mobile Security in the myAT&T app
- Account Lock blocks phone number transfers, SIM or eSIM swaps, device upgrades, billing information updates and changes to authorized users
- Each toggle triggers a confirmation email to the primary account holder and an SMS to every active number on the account
- The launch complements similar protections from T-Mobile, Verizon and Google Fi and follows 2023 FCC verification rules introduced after a surge in SIM swapping fraud
