Overview
- The feature is now available to all AT&T postpaid, prepaid and business customers following a pilot program earlier this year.
- When enabled, Account Lock prevents phone number transfers, SIM or eSIM swaps, billing updates, device upgrades and changes to authorized users.
- Primary account holders receive an email and every active line gets a text message each time the lock is turned on or off.
- Business accounts can exempt specific lines or restrict particular account modifications while keeping other lines operational.
- AT&T’s launch places it alongside T-Mobile, Verizon and Google Fi in offering carrier-level protections against SIM swapping fraud.
