Overview
- Outdoor matches will be halted when the WBGT heat-stress index reaches or exceeds 32.2° for more than 15 minutes, with play resuming only after it stays below 30.5° for 20 minutes.
- Stadiums with roofs will close them at the first changeover or end of a set once WBGT hits 32° or the court surface reaches 45°, converting play to indoor conditions.
- Players can request a 10-minute cooling break between the second and third sets when WBGT reaches 30.1°, allowing showers, coaching, clothing changes, and medical checks.
- Doubles matches will not be formally suspended for heat, but teams will receive an additional 90 seconds for hydration when WBGT is 31° or higher.
- The overhaul, prompted by 2025 heat-related illnesses and withdrawals in Cincinnati and Shanghai including Jannik Sinner, takes effect in 2026 with evaluation expected during the Australian swing.
