Overview
- The ATP Board approved the policy on Monday, with implementation set for the 2026 season.
- In best-of-three singles, a 10-minute cooling suspension after the second set can be requested if WBGT reaches at least 30.1°C in the first two sets, and play will be halted if readings exceed 32.2°C.
- During suspensions, players may shower, change clothes, hydrate, use cooling methods, and receive coaching under ATP medical supervision.
- For doubles, there is no set break, but changeovers extend to 90 seconds for hydration when WBGT hits 31°C or higher.
- A tournament-wide protocol calls for stopping all outdoor play if WBGT stays at or above 32.2°C for 15 minutes, with resumption only after levels drop below 30.5°C for at least 20 minutes.
