Atlanta Braves Sign Reynaldo López in $30 Million Deal

The hard-throwing right-hander joins the Braves after a strong 2023 season; potential move to starting role considered.

Reynaldo López, a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher, has been signed by the Atlanta Braves on a three-year, $30 million contract.
López, who pitched for the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, and Cleveland Guardians in 2023, had a 3.27 ERA and six saves over 68 appearances.
The Braves have been active in the offseason, re-signing relievers Joe Jiménez and Pierce Johnson, and acquiring left-handed reliever Aaron Bummer from the White Sox.
López, who has been used primarily as a reliever in the last two seasons, could potentially be moved back to a starting role by the Braves.
The Braves' rotation currently includes All-Star Spencer Strider, Max Fried, and 40-year-old Charlie Morton, who had his $20 million option exercised.
