  • The operation was carried out by team orthopedist Dr. Will Workman, who performed a medial meniscectomy.
  • Newcomb, who had a 1-1 record with a 3.00 ERA over seven games with two starts spanning 15 innings, is expected to be ready to pitch by the start of spring training.
  • Newcomb was traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Oakland Athletics on August 21.
