Ather Launches Konarc S Scooters as Demand Outruns Production

Priced from about Rs.99,999, the family‑focused Konarc uses Ather’s new EL platform and will face constrained supply while the company ramps Aurangabad capacity.

Overview

  • Ather unveiled the Konarc at its Community Day on Saturday, Aug. 29, and began pricing S‑line variants at about Rs.99,999 (ex‑showroom Bengaluru) with deliveries scheduled to start in September.
  • The Konarc S line includes 100km, 125km and 161km IDC‑rated variants built on the new EL platform, which uses a steel unibody, a longer 1,352 mm wheelbase and a sequential gear‑drive enclosed gearbox to improve serviceability and scale.
  • Ather extended battery coverage to a 10‑year warranty with a 70% range guarantee and lengthened service intervals to 10,000 km or 12 months, while offering a 450W onboard charger and 31‑litre underseat storage.
  • Company leaders say current monthly demand exceeds 50,000 units while existing capacity is about 35,000 units per month, and Ather expects supply shortages to continue for three to four quarters even after Aurangabad Phase‑I comes online.
  • The launch pushed Ather shares to a record intraday high and prompted broker upgrades as analysts flagged the Konarc’s potential to expand Ather’s addressable market and to compete more directly with mass‑market rivals such as Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube.
