Overview
- The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, which logged its 20,000,316th crossing on Thursday, has now carried more than 2 crore vehicles since its January 2024 launch.
- MMRDA's tally shows about 18,195,718 private cars, or roughly 91% of all crossings to date.
- Light commercial vehicles, minibuses and buses accounted for 598,525 crossings, and medium, heavy and oversized trucks totaled 1,206,073.
- The bridge cuts the Sewri to Chirle drive from over an hour on older routes to about 20 minutes, making it a faster daily choice for commuters.
- MMRDA calls the link a lifeline that eases pressure on the Vashi bridge and the Sion–Panvel highway and says the time savings support commerce and lower fuel use.
