At UN, Trump Attacks UN and Europe, Says Ukraine Can Reclaim All Territory, Pledges Arms via NATO

The Kremlin rejected the claim, saying the war will continue.

Overview

  • In a combative General Assembly speech, Trump castigated the UN, warned Europe over migration, and labeled climate policy “the greatest hoax.”
  • After meeting Volodymyr Zelensky, he posted on Truth that Ukraine could “reconquer” its original borders with EU and NATO support and said the United States will keep supplying arms to NATO.
  • He urged European countries to stop buying Russian energy and raised the prospect of powerful new tariffs on Russia if Europe aligns.
  • Moscow responded that Russia is a “real bear,” not a “paper tiger,” and declared there is no alternative to continuing the war, with officials also deriding Trump’s shifting stance.
  • As leaders gathered in New York, Kharkiv was hit overnight by drone strikes that damaged an energy site, G7 ministers decried recent Russian airspace violations in NATO countries, and the U.S. Secret Service said it dismantled a network of over 100,000 SIM cards that could have threatened New York telecoms.
