• Lindberg’s family confirmed his death to SVT Nyheter, and At The Gates said he passed away this morning following complications from ongoing cancer treatment.
• Diagnosed in December 2023 with adenoid cystic carcinoma, he underwent major oral surgery and two months of radiation before traces of the cancer were found again early this year.
• A serious setback in May led to long-term inpatient care with around-the-clock monitoring, which the band disclosed publicly in August along with a message he had written in March.
• He finished recording vocals for the next At The Gates album the day before surgery, and the forthcoming release will feature his final performances posthumously.
• A founding member of At The Gates and a key architect of the Gothenburg melodic death metal sound, he was widely lauded for Slaughter of the Soul and work with projects including Disfear, Lock Up and The Crown.
