At 41, Vera Zvonareva Wins Singles Return in Dubai ITF Opener

The former world No. 2 used a Dubai W100 wildcard after shoulder surgery to relaunch her singles campaign.

Zvonareva defeated Croatia's Tara Wurth 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the ITF W100 Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge in Dubai.
The victory is her first singles win since March 2024 and comes in her first singles tournament since May 2024.
She saved 7 of 10 break points and converted five breaks to close out the straight-sets win.
The 41-year-old returned after shoulder surgery in September 2024 and a period coaching in Dubai.
She is set to face qualifier Tereza Martincova next, after the Czech player upset top seed Dalma Galfi.
