- Minister Bart van den Brink on Monday elevated ten municipalities to 'actief toezicht' and ordered mayors or responsible aldermen to attend ministerial talks about finding sites for structural asylum reception.
- The ten named municipalities include Westland, Aalten, Gemert-Bakel, Valkenswaard and Overbetuwe and more names will be published monthly if problems persist.
- Local officials say they are working on solutions or point to planning rules, nature laws, utility limits, COA suitability checks and lack of local support as real causes of delay rather than simple refusal to cooperate.
