Asus Unveils BTF GPUs and Motherboards at CES 2024

New tech hides connections for cleaner builds, with first GPUs and compatible cases expected in Q1 2024.

  • Asus has unveiled its 'Back To Future' (BTF) GPUs and motherboards at CES 2024, which are designed to make PC building easier by hiding all general connections to one side of the motherboard.
  • The BTF standard is similar to MSI's 'Project Zero', and an 'Advanced BTF' standard also hides an extra PCIe power connection for power-hungry GPUs.
  • The first GPUs displayed were the Asus TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super BTF White Edition and the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero BTF, both of which feature the Advanced BTF Standard for a sleek, cable-free build.
  • Two new cable-less RTX 40 Series GPUs were also revealed: the ROG Strix BTF 4070 Super and ROG Strix BTF 4090. The 4070 Super BTF is estimated for a March release, while the 4090 BTF is scheduled for end-of-Q1 2024.
  • Asus has partnered with several case vendors to form the BTF Alliance, which will produce cases that are compatible with its BTF motherboards. These cases are expected to launch in Q1 2024.
