Overview

  • The Fiscalía del Principado de Asturias has requested 25 years and four months of imprisonment for each parent on counts of habitual psychological violence, illegal detention and family abandonment.
  • Since filing its provisional conclusions on July 24, the German father and American mother have remained in pretrial detention without bail after a police raid on April 28 during an electricity and telecommunications blackout in Fitoria (Oviedo).
  • Investigators found the three siblings, aged 8 to 11, completely isolated, never registered in any public system and untreated by medical professionals since 2019, relying solely on unprescribed medications their parents stocked at home.
  • The rural residence was discovered in unsanitary, hazardous conditions with massive waste accumulation, broken furniture and large caches of medicines, and the children showed physical impairments and severe social distress.
  • The minors remain under the Principality’s guardianship and are undergoing medical, psychological and educational rehabilitation to address profound developmental delays and reintegrate into society.
