Astros Trade Grae Kessinger to Diamondbacks for Pitching Prospect Matthew Linskey

Houston acquires 22-year-old right-hander Linskey, while Arizona adds versatile infielder Kessinger to its roster.

The Houston Astros traded infielder Grae Kessinger to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for pitching prospect Matthew Linskey on Wednesday.
Kessinger, 27, batted .131 with one home run and one RBI in 48 games across the 2023 and 2024 seasons with Houston.
Defensively, Kessinger has played multiple infield positions and even pitched an inning during his time with the Astros.
Linskey, a 22-year-old right-hander and Texas native, posted a 2.75 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings in the minor leagues, reaching High-A in 2024.
The trade follows Kessinger being designated for assignment by the Astros on December 23 to make room for a new roster addition.
