• Luis Garcia left Tuesday’s start against the Blue Jays after 1 2/3 innings and returned to Houston for further testing, manager Joe Espada said.
• The Astros recalled right-hander Nick Hernandez from Triple-A Sugar Land to take the roster spot.
• AJ Blubaugh logged 3.1 scoreless relief innings after Garcia’s exit, and Espada noted he can start or pitch out of the bullpen.
• Garcia had just rejoined the rotation on Sept. 1, throwing six innings of three-run ball against the Angels in his first MLB outing since surgery.
• The rotation is already stretched by recent and ongoing elbow issues for Spencer Arrighetti, Hayden Wesneski, Ronel Blanco and Brandon Walter.
