Astronics Completes All-Cash Acquisition of Bühler Motor Aviation

The German seat-actuation specialist will be integrated with Astronics’ PGA subsidiary to accelerate cabin-motion solutions.

Overview

  • Astronics bought Bühler Motor Aviation from Bühler Motor Group in a closed, all-cash deal.
  • BMA, based in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen, Germany, produces aircraft seat actuation systems including actuators, electronics, control panels, pneumatic systems, and cabin lighting.
  • Astronics expects the acquired business to contribute about $22 million in annual revenue by 2026.
  • CEO Peter Gundermann described BMA as an ideal tuck-in that complements Astronics’ seat actuation portfolio and adds engineering expertise and customer relationships.
  • The transaction follows a $225 million convertible notes offering that bolstered Astronics’ capacity to invest, with ATRO shares up about 1% premarket Monday.
