Overview
- Walt Disney World’s official refurbishment calendar shows Astro Orbiter closed January 5 through 7, 2027 with an implied reopening on January 8, and Disney has not published details about the work.
- The attraction underwent a full disassembly and rebuild in early 2025, reopening on June 27, 2025 after a multi‑month refurbishment.
- After the 2025 rebuild, guests and Cast Members reported the Astro Orbiter’s central lift stopped working so the ride only raised to about half its previous height.
- A three‑day window is far shorter than the 2025 teardown, making a full rebuild unlikely and suggesting any work next January would be targeted repairs or routine maintenance.
- If Disney includes the central lift in this short closure, testing and reopening will reveal that quickly; until then guests should expect limited downtime but should monitor official updates for confirmation.
