Overview
- On June 2, deputies voted for a France insoumise motion to reject Jean Terlier’s bill that would have retroactively validated environmental authorizations for the Toulouse-Castres highway.
- Centrist and right-wing MPs joined the rejection vote to fast-track the proposal into a commission mixte paritaire where its adoption is considered almost inevitable.
- Environmental permits annulled in February by the Toulouse Administrative Court halted the A69, but the administrative appeals court granted an emergency green light on May 28.
- Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot says preparatory work will restart progressively in mid-June, with full mobilization expected later in the summer and promised environmental compensations in place.
- Opponents, including La Voie est Libre and the Groupe national de surveillance des arbres, have called a major protest from July 4 to 6 to contest the project’s ecological impact and its delayed 2025 completion target.
