  • The Assam government will inaugurate 80 additional model schools in tea garden regions by January 2025, moving closer to its target of 200 schools across 800 estates.

  • New model schools will be outfitted with smart classroom technology, including interactive boards, to enhance instructional quality.
  • Bicycles will be distributed to students from Class VI to ensure attendance in remote areas, with a pilot breakfast program and mandatory health checkups also under consideration.
  • Infrastructure upgrades and teacher recruitment are backed by investments from the Hans Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Azim Premji Foundation.
