Assam Sets Jan. 17 Mass Bagurumba Performance for PM Modi at Sarusajai

A centralized training drive across 23 districts aims to deliver a unified presentation of Bodo heritage.

  • Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed preparations at the Sarusajai Sports Complex with Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah on January 2.
  • Master (Oja) trainers will be trained on January 4–6, followed by district-level instruction using a standardized video module on January 8–10.
  • Performers are scheduled to assemble in Guwahati on January 11 ahead of stadium rehearsals.
  • Full rehearsals will run January 12–15 at Sarusajai, with January 16 set aside for rest and final corrections.
  • More than 10,000 Bagurumba dancers will perform on January 17 before the Prime Minister, accompanied by traditional Bodo instruments such as the Kham, Sifung and Serja.
