Assam Sets August 6 Rollout for Expanded Nijut Moina 2.0 Scheme

The plan introduces tighter oversight alongside extended benefits for Assam students enrolled in central universities.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a video conference with cabinet members, MLAs, district commissioners, principals and education officials to finalise Nijut Moina 2.0 preparations.
  • Application forms will be distributed from August 6 to eligible girls in higher secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate and B.Ed programmes across Assam.
  • Monthly stipends under the scheme range from ₹1,000 for Class 11 students to ₹2,500 for postgraduate and B.Ed attendees.
  • The second edition expands eligibility to include Assam resident girls studying at central universities such as Tezpur and Assam University without economic condition barriers.
  • District commissioners and principals have been instructed to maintain an updated beneficiary database and conduct grassroots awareness campaigns to ensure no eligible student is left behind.
