Assam Rifles Rescue Two Abducted Labourers in Arunachal After Gunfight

An intelligence-led Assam Rifles operation freed the pair under fire, with searches continuing for the abductors.

Overview

  • The men were taken from a road construction site in Laho village in Tirap’s Dadam circle on Saturday afternoon.
  • Officials said NSCN-K cadres carried out the abduction, with about seven to eight armed members involved.
  • Assam Rifles columns under the Army’s Spear Corps used specific intelligence to cordon the Nianu area after laying interceptions near Ngisa K Nokna and Nginnu K Nokna.
  • At first light around 5:50 am, insurgents opened fire and troops returned calibrated small-arms and mortar fire, enabling the rescue without harm.
  • The labourers were moved to Khonsa for medical checks, and searches continue for the abductors as the outfit remains banned under a five-year extension issued last month.
