Assam Relaunches Employee Health Scheme With Cashless Care, Keeps Reimbursement Option

The revamp introduces cashless care at empanelled hospitals to end upfront payments, addressing long reimbursement delays.

Overview

  • Cashless access now applies to state employees, pensioners and their dependents at an empanelled network that includes all state medical colleges, Assam Cancer Care Foundation hospitals, Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, GNRC, Down Town Hospital, Max Healthcare, Srimanta Sankaradeva Netralaya and Medanta in Gurgaon.
  • Beneficiaries retain a choice of hospitals, with the reimbursement route continuing wherever cashless acceptance is not available.
  • Health cards were distributed to enable cashless use and claims processing, and a digital newsletter was unveiled for scheme updates.
  • Registrations cited at the launch stood at 2,23,826 employees and roughly 6,000 pensioners, with enrollment available on a rolling basis.
  • The state said reimbursements follow CGHS rates with a pledge to adopt any revisions, and it plans to extend eligibility to APDCL, AEGCL, APGCL and contractual or wage staff.
