Overview

  • Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Aqua Tech Park in Sonapur on July 12 as India’s first facility of its kind
  • The project was developed by Kolong-Kopili in partnership with NABARD, ICAR, CIFA, the state Fishery Department and the Selco Foundation
  • It features aquaponics systems, biofloc units, modern fish production modules and ornamental fish breeding facilities
  • The park will offer training, technical support and a research platform aimed at empowering local fish farmers and entrepreneurs
  • The launch builds on a ₹38,572 crore investment in fisheries since 2015, including the ₹20,050 crore PMMSY scheme to double production and create rural jobs
