Overview

• On July 28, Guardian Minister Ashok Singhal handed over 2,145 land title certificates in Bishwanath district, bringing the total number of beneficiaries under the Forest Rights Act to 11,982
• The certificates were issued through 82 forest rights committees with 1,336 beneficiaries in Bishwanath, 509 in Naduar, 157 in Gahpur and 143 in Bihali constituencies
• The revived Sakomatha scheme received a ₹3.30 crore investment to restore water access for 800 hectares of farmland after remaining inactive since 1977–78
• Singhal instructed the District Commissioner to form a Water Users’ Committee and mandated weekly inspections by joint teams from the Irrigation and Agriculture Departments
• MLAs Pramod Barthakur, Utpal Bora and Diganta Ghatwal joined Zilla Parishad chairperson Sunita Tanty, District Commissioner Simanta Kumar Das and other senior officials at the ceremonies
