Assam, Meghalaya Distribute Smartphones to Anganwadi Workers for Digital Nutrition Monitoring

Equipped with the POSHAN Tracker App, the smartphones will streamline real-time health data entry across hundreds of rural Anganwadi centres.

Overview

  • Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu handed out smartphones to Anganwadi workers in Sivasagar to bolster digital nutrition tracking under the Poshan Abhiyaan.
  • Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma oversaw the distribution of over 6,000 devices in East Garo Hills made possible by a Rs 6 crore grant from the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
  • Each phone is pre-loaded with the POSHAN Tracker App, enabling frontline workers to upload real-time metrics on children’s height, weight and maternal health in place of manual registers.
  • The Meghalaya initiative also provided IIT Innovation ECO H2O filters to Anganwadi centres, supplying safe drinking water to young children in remote communities.
  • During the East Garo Hills event, Sangma announced upgrades to the Tura Integrated Administrative Complex and Convention Centre and launched the CM-CARE Scheme to deliver monthly stipends to widows and senior citizens.
