Assam Lays Foundations for Hospitals and Hotel, Targets December Launch of ₹1.78 Lakh-Crore Projects

Officials frame the push as a jobs engine to build medical tourism.

  • At Guwahati’s Sarusajai, foundation stones were laid for a Medanta super speciality hospital, a Cocoon mother and childcare hospital, and a Lemon Tree five-star hotel.
  • The three ventures are pegged at about ₹800 crore under MoUs from Advantage Assam 2.0, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
  • The Chief Minister said projects totaling roughly ₹1.78 lakh crore from the summit will start by December 2025.
  • He cited a ₹40,000 crore thermal power project and around ₹30,000 crore in palm storage ventures among those slated to commence.
  • Sarma credited Advantage Assam 1.0 with building the investment ecosystem and said the second edition has accelerated the conversion of commitments into projects.
