Assam Launches Nijut Moina 2.0 to Extend Stipends to Four Lakh Female Students

The rollout includes application distribution across 35 districts with expanded eligibility for central university and self-financed course attendees ahead of benefit disbursements planned for October.

Overview

  • Application forms have been distributed across 35 districts from August 6 to 8, marking the statewide commencement of Nijut Moina 2.0.
  • Phase 2 now includes central university and self-financed course students alongside those in higher secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate and B.Ed programmes.
  • Beneficiaries will receive ₹1,000 monthly for class XI–XII, ₹1,250 for undergraduates and ₹2,500 for postgraduate students via direct benefit transfers.
  • District commissioners and college principals are charged with ensuring transparent implementation and raising awareness in remote communities.
  • The expanded scheme builds on Phase 1’s outreach to 1.6 lakh girls and underpins Assam’s goal of zero child marriages by 2026.
