Assam Issues Lookout Notices in Zubeen Garg Case, Orders Organiser and Manager to Appear by Oct. 6

The state escalates its inquiry with raids, expanded summons, forensic testing under a 10-member SIT.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Shyamkanu Mahanta and manager Siddharth Sharma must present statements in Guwahati on October 6 or face intensified police action.
  • Assam Police’s SIT and CID searched residences linked to the Singapore trip, sealed Sharma’s home, and questioned at least one accompanist, while nearly a dozen witnesses from the yacht party were summoned.
  • Sarma said Mahanta’s bank accounts and credit cards are frozen, he has sought a judicial commission led by a sitting judge, and he would move the case to the CBI if the state probe falls short.
  • Investigators said viscera from the second autopsy at Gauhati Medical College were sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Delhi, with Singapore’s post-mortem documents awaited.
  • A group of artistes filed an FIR alleging negligence and financial misconduct by Mahanta, Sharma and others, as Sharma publicly denied exploitation claims and outlined the structure of Zubeen Garg Music LLP.
