Funeral ceremonies in Guwahati honored Tulasi’s legacy as commemorations spread across Assam

  • Funeral rites for 67-year-old Anubhav Tulasi were held at the Nabagraha crematorium in Guwahati today with family members, colleagues and admirers in attendance.
  • A tribute meeting in Bokakhat organized by Bokakhat Puwoti Xahitya Xabha celebrated Tulasi’s contributions to Assamese literature.
  • Leaders from Asam Sahitya Sabha, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and Assam Jatiya Parishad issued statements mourning the loss of the poet.
  • Over a four-decade career Tulasi authored more than 20 poetry collections and 30 books across genres and received honors including the Munin Barkotoki Award and a senior fellowship from the Union Ministry of Culture.
  • His selected poems are taught in postgraduate courses at Gauhati University, Cotton University and Lakhimpur College and his work reached international audiences through translations and festival appearances.
