Assam Floodwaters Recede as Death Toll Climbs to 27

  • Fatalities have risen to 27 after one more death was reported in Sribhumi district, Assam State Disaster Management Authority data show.
  • Floodwaters have begun receding across Assam with no major river currently exceeding danger levels.
  • Sribhumi remains the worst affected district with 121,847 residents still impacted, followed by Hailakandi.
  • Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma toured Hailakandi and Sribhumi to assess conditions and pledged full government assistance.
