Overview
- At an event in Guwahati, four families received Rs 1 crore each under personal accidental insurance, two received Rs 10 lakh each under group term life insurance, and one received Rs 75 lakh for permanent partial disability.
- The Zero Cost Employee Insurance Scheme, launched in January, charges no premium to employees and includes air accident cover of Rs 2 crore, personal accident cover of Rs 1 crore, permanent total disability up to Rs 1 crore, permanent partial disability up to Rs 80 lakh, and term life cover of Rs 10 lakh.
- More than four lakh government employees are enrolled, with 238 claims reported and 203 settled, including 193 group term life payouts of Rs 10 lakh and 10 personal accident payouts of Rs 1 crore.
- The programme operates through salary package accounts provided by State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Axis Bank, and Indian Bank.
- Implementation is led by the Finance Department, with Treasury Officers acting as nodal officers for rollout and monitoring.
