Assam Completes First Statewide EVM–VVPAT Randomisation as ECI Deploys Observers

Overview

• The first randomisation of EVMs and VVPATs was completed on March 19 across all 35 districts covering 126 Assembly constituencies.
• The exercise began at 11 a.m. at District Election Officer offices with representatives of recognised political parties present in line with ECI norms.
• The EVM Management System assigned machines to constituencies through a system-led process designed to remove manual intervention.
• The ECI posted two general observers, two expenditure observers and one police observer in Kamrup Metropolitan, and all have taken charge in Guwahati.
• Election authorities released contact numbers for citizens to report poll-related concerns as preparations advance toward the April 9 vote.
