Overview
- District Commissioners, Additional DCs and Senior Superintendents of Police can now order expulsions after giving suspected foreigners 10 days to submit proof of Indian citizenship.
- If documents are judged unsatisfactory, the DC issues a reasoned order on the tenth day and directs removal within 24 hours via a specified route.
- Authorities will record biometric and demographic data on a Foreigners Identification Portal, with non‑compliant persons sent to holding centres or handed to the Border Security Force.
- People intercepted near the zero line or within 12 hours of entry will be pushed back immediately without further process.
- The SOP largely bypasses Foreigners’ Tribunals for new identifications, though unclear cases may be referred and existing tribunal cases will continue; the state reports about 30,120 pushbacks to date.
