  • Assam Police detained musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and singer Amritprabha Mahanta after fresh questioning, saying evidence warranted their arrests for further inquiry.
  • Investigators amended the FIR to include Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, escalating the case to a murder probe beyond earlier charges of culpable homicide, conspiracy and negligence.
  • Zubeen Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta were arrested in Delhi, remanded to 14 days’ police custody in Guwahati, and face a parallel financial investigation that has included raids and bank account freezes.
  • The SIT is examining videos showing Goswami swimming close to Garg as Mahanta recorded the scene, while seized devices, including Garg’s phone and other items, are undergoing forensic analysis.
  • Singapore provided its autopsy report and preliminary findings to the Indian side and the family, as investigators await CFSL viscera results and prepare a team to travel to Singapore through MLAT channels.
