Assam Cabinet Approves ₹2,750 Crore World Bank Loan to Overhaul Education
Funding channels investments into school reconstructions, Anganwadi modernizations, Japanese-language training for youth employment.
Overview
- The Centre will cover 90% of the loan with Assam responsible for repaying the remaining ₹275 crore.
- Each of 400 schools will receive ₹3–5 crore for rebuilding while 1,733 Anganwadi centres are allocated ₹25 lakh each for upgrades.
- Teachers will undergo specialized mathematics and science training and headmasters will get management instruction to help reduce dropout rates.
- Under CM-FLIGHT, 3,000 youths will start Japanese-language courses by October with ₹1.5 lakh scholarships and additional bank loan support.
- Implementation schedules are in place and preparatory work is underway to begin infrastructure upgrades and training programs in the coming months.
