- The 24th Battalion of the SSB, with police and forest personnel, detained Som Hansda near the Guabari border outpost in Kamrup on August 21.
- A search recovered an elephant molar tooth, wild boar teeth and hair, an owl skull, and other animal bones from his possession.
- Hansda was handed over to the forest department at Kumarikata for investigation under relevant wildlife protection laws.
- Officials said the seized items are suspected evidence of illegal wildlife trade in the India–Bhutan border region.
- The SSB said it regularly engages local residents to encourage reporting of smuggling and other criminal activity in border areas.
