Assam Assembly Schedules Two-Day Induction for 47 New MLAs
The programme will train new legislators in assembly rules and speaking procedures to prepare them for the incoming Budget Session.
Overview
- The Assam Legislative Assembly has organised a two-day training camp for 47 newly elected MLAs to be held at Gopinath Bordoloi Bhavan on July 4 and 5.
- Sessions will teach core parliamentary devices such as Points of Order and Special Mentions and are split into two sittings to cover procedural detail.
- Parliamentary experts and former presiding officers have been invited to lead the programme, including Dr Samudra Gupta Kashyap, former Deputy Speaker Dr Numal Momin, and former Speaker Hitendra Goswami.
- The induction is explicitly timed to come just before the Assembly’s budget session so new members can take part in debates and question the budget effectively.
- Although focused on newcomers, the training is open to senior legislators and ministers, aiming to boost overall procedural knowledge and shorten the learning curve for legislative work.
