Overview

• On July 13 in Roing, employer Tadar Bhai shot 29-year-old Shankar Pegu in a workplace dispute and Pegu died the next morning at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences in Naharlagun.
• Police have arrested Tadar Bhai, seized the pistol used in the shooting and registered murder charges under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 27 of the Arms Act, with post-mortem reports still awaited.
• The latest killing follows the June 18 murder of 22-year-old Prabash Doley near Chimpu, Itanagar, marking two fatal shootings of Assamese labourers in Arunachal Pradesh within a month.
