Overview

  • Chief ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Conrad Sangma agreed to erect boundary pillars in five of six resolved areas by August 15, 2025.
  • Negotiations over the remaining dispute at Pilangkata will resume with deputy commissioners to resolve interpretational differences.
  • The states commissioned NESAC to complete satellite mapping of Guwahati’s flood-prone zones within three months to pinpoint cross-border water flows.
  • Mapped data will be forwarded to IIT Roorkee for recommendations on flood-mitigation measures that protect Assam’s urban areas and Meghalaya’s livelihoods.
  • A 55 MW multipurpose Kulsi hydropower and irrigation project will move forward jointly after consultations with affected local communities.
