Assam Advances Infrastructure and Green Energy Goals with Major Projects and Investments

The state announces a Rs 10,600 crore fertiliser company, greenlights Guwahati Ring Road, and accelerates MoU-backed projects ahead of PM Modi's September visit.

Overview

  • The Assam government has incorporated Assam Fertiliser & Chemical Company Ltd with a Rs 10,600 crore investment to revitalise the Namrup fertiliser plant, with a 40% state stake and equity from BVCL, NFL, OIL, and HURL.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Guwahati Ring Road project, including a Narengi–Purva bridge, with Rs 1,000 crore state funding and Rs 3,000 crore central Viability Gap Funding.
  • PM Modi will visit Assam on September 8 to inaugurate the Bhupen Hazarika centenary celebrations, lay the foundation for the Guwahati Ring Road, and launch the Numaligarh bio-refinery.
  • Adani Group will inaugurate the second terminal of Guwahati's LGBI Airport in October and commence work on the Rs 10,000 crore Aerocity project the same month.
  • The state expects Rs 1 lakh crore worth of projects under Advantage Assam 2.0 MoUs to show visible progress by December, including key highway and tunnel projects nearing approval.
