Aspyr Announces Shrek 2 Remastered for Modern Consoles

The updated 2004 movie tie-in adds 4K visuals, Photo Mode, a Cheats menu and online four-player co-op to bring the PS2 title to today’s platforms.

Overview

  • Aspyr officially revealed Shrek 2 Remastered with a cinematic trailer on Oct. 20, and the game will release on November 10, 2026 with digital pre-orders live at $26.99 discounted from a $29.99 retail price.
  • The remaster rebuilds the original with higher-resolution textures and 4K support, an enhanced user interface, upgraded cutscenes, a Photo Mode and a Cheats menu.
  • Multiplayer support now includes online co-op for up to four players in addition to local co-op, letting friends join across levels that revisit Shrek’s swamp, Fiona’s castle and the kingdom of Far Far Away.
  • Shrek 2 Remastered will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, and Aspyr — known for porting and remaster work — is confirmed as the developer.
  • The announcement closes a leak-driven arc that began with achievement and Xbox Store listings and feeds a broader trend of studios monetizing older licensed games while audiences and critics debate the value of nostalgia-driven remasters.
