Overview
- At about 7:35 a.m. JST, a quake in the Aso region of Kumamoto registered seismic intensity 3, with an estimated depth of around 10 km.
- Intensity 3 shaking in that event was recorded in Aso Ichinomiya, Ubuyama, and on Mount Aso, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
- At about 7:51 a.m. JST, a separate quake produced seismic intensity 3 on Akusekijima in Toshima Village, Kagoshima Prefecture.
- The Japan Meteorological Agency said there is no tsunami concern for either earthquake.
- An earlier tremor around 6:12 a.m. registered intensity 2 in the Aso area, and initial reports did not include damage information.
