ASI Oversees Whitewashing of Sambhal’s Shahi Jama Masjid Following Court Directive

The Allahabad High Court ordered the restoration of the mosque's outer walls and approved decorative lighting while ensuring structural integrity.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) began whitewashing the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal on Sunday, following a March 12 directive from the Allahabad High Court.
The court mandated the restoration work to be completed within a week and approved the addition of decorative lighting for the mosque ahead of Ramzan.
A three-member committee, including ASI officials and local representatives, is overseeing the project to ensure no structural damage occurs.
Tensions in the area remain high due to the November 24 violence during a survey of the mosque, which left four people dead and several injured.
Security has been heightened around the site, with police forces, CCTV, and drones deployed to maintain peace during the restoration efforts.
