Overview

• On October 2, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the NIELIT Digital University platform to broaden access to high-quality digital education.
• Five new NIELIT centres were virtually inaugurated in Muzaffarpur, Balasore, Tirupati, Lunglei, and Daman to strengthen local delivery.
• The platform offers NCVET-approved, NSQF-aligned courses with Academic Bank of Credit transfer, virtual laboratories, multilingual learning, and AI-powered guidance tools.
• Vaishnaw outlined a plan to compile 500 industry partners to ensure courses address sector-specific requirements across the economy.
• NIELIT recently received special-category deemed university status and operates a network of 56 centres, 750+ approved institutes, and 9,000+ support centres, with a stated goal to reach 4 million learners by 2030.
