Ministers Also Address Myanmar Crisis, Agree to Cooperation Agreements in Security and Peacekeeping

ASEAN defense ministers have called for an immediate truce and the creation of a humanitarian corridor in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, expressing 'profound concern' over the loss of civilian lives.
The ministers also supported the start of peace negotiations aimed at achieving a 'two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders'.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Russia's Vice Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, and China's deputy chief of staff at the Central Military Commission, Jing Jianfeng, participated in the talks.
The ASEAN defense ministers also addressed the ongoing crisis in Myanmar, urging the military government to seek a non-violent solution.
The ministers agreed to sign cooperation agreements in the areas of maritime security, counterterrorism, humanitarian assistance, disaster management, and peacekeeping operations.
