• Asda today introduced a £3.74 Meal Deal nationwide across supermarkets, Asda Express and online, replacing its 3-for-2 Food to Go promotion.
• The bundle includes a main, snack and drink drawn from 132 mains, 336 snacks and 222 drinks with access for all shoppers without an app or membership.
• At £3.74 the offer undercuts non-member prices at Tesco (£4.25), Sainsbury’s (£3.95) and Morrisons (£4), though Morrisons members can pay £3.60.
• Asda expects to sell more than 700,000 Meal Deals in the first week, and says the range is compliant with forthcoming High Fat, Salt and Sugar rules on multi-buy promotions.
• Sainsbury’s has lifted its premium deal to £5.50 with 14 new mains, Tesco recently raised meal-deal prices, and Pret is trialling £6–£7 lunch bundles in select stores.
