As Ministers Exit, Audit Finds 188 High-Value Items Missing From SCJN Offices

An internal audit leaves 1,802 items unlocated prompting a five-stage inventory cleanup in the second half of 2025.

Overview

  • Eight ministerial offices account for 188 not-located goods, with 77 tied to the Secretaría General de la Presidencia under Norma Lucía Piña, according to audit DAIA/2024/27.
  • The missing goods include artworks and communication and telecommunication equipment, categories that concentrate much of the Court’s asset value.
  • Institution-wide, 1,802 movable assets remain unlocated after a May–July 2024 search recovered 2,401 of 4,203 items flagged across 64 areas.
  • Other units show larger gaps than ministerial offices, including 739 items at Dirección General de Justicia TV, 227 at Almacén Zaragoza and 180 at Infraestructura Física.
  • The SCJN’s resources office outlined a program to physically verify, reconcile and regularize fixed-asset records in five stages during H2 2025, after audits also noted allocations to former personnel such as 394 goods assigned to an official who left in 2015.
