A's Activate Luis Severino for Tuesday Start in St. Louis

The veteran returns from an Aug. 6 oblique strain to bolster a thin rotation.

  • Oakland also recalled INF/OF Max Schuemann, selected RHP Scott McGough, optioned RHP Eduarniel Núñez to Triple-A, and transferred LHP Ben Bowden to the 60-day injured list.
  • Severino had been sidelined since Aug. 6 with a left oblique strain and missed three turns in the rotation.
  • The right-hander is 6-11 with a 4.82 ERA over 24 starts this season, including a 4-1 stretch with a 2.93 ERA over his past five outings.
  • He signed a three-year, $67 million contract last winter, the largest deal in franchise history.
